Dr.Venkat acquired his MS in Orthopedics from one of Asia's busiest orthopedic institutes, The Central Institute of Orthopaedics at Safdarjang hospital, New Delhi. His interests in Joint replacements took him to the UK where he gained extensive training at some of the best hospitals as a specialist registrar. These include Alderhey hospital, Addenbrooke's hospital, Royal Liverpool hospital etc. He acquired post graduate qualifications from India and the UK

In the UK he got a sound exposure in all super specialties like Joint replacements, revision surgery, arthroscopy, spinal surgery, paediatric orthopaedic surgery, hand and foot surgery and trauma.

He has been working as a consultant in private hospitals in India and abroad for the last twelve years. His teaching appointments include the post of an Assistant Professor at the Chettinad medical college, Tamil nadu, India.

He is presently a consultant at the Chettinad health city's super specialty hospital. This city has state of the art infra-structure and equipment. He attracts patients from India and abroad.

He has headed research and development for a company in the orthopedic implant industry.

His current interests are joint replacements of hip knee & shoulder.  He is a proponent of less invasive & minimal invasive surgery

He has pioneered flexible knee replacements, Oxinium knee, Oxford knee, Proxima knee in Chennai & South India. He offers Proxima Hip replacements, hip resurfacing, Birmingham Hip replacement, large diameter metal on metal hip replacements, high flex knee replacements, partial knee replacements, Shoulder resurfacing, key hole surgery etc. He has the most extensive experience in treating acetabular and pelvic fractures. Recently he has recently introduced the Oxinium knee prosthesis in South India.

His articles have been published in newspapers like The Hindu, Indian Express, Deccan Chronicle, Time, Woman's era etc. He contributes articles to several news, papers, journals and magazines. He has been interviewed by British TV Channel 4, CNN IBN & Indian channels for his experience in treating overseas patients from the UK, USA and Canada. He participated at the International medical tourism Expo in London, June 2006
