High Flex total Knee replacement
popular procedure for South Indians, Muslims, middle east and Japanese patients
This special form of replacement was pioneered in Tamil nadu by Dr.Venkatachalam for a Muslim doctor from Lucknow. Religious dictates of Islam require a person to offer prayers 5 times daily. For an orthodox muslim this would not be possible with normal knee replacements. A high flexion knee replacement using a special prosthesis allows bending upto 155 degrees and permits kneeling. Many more patients have undergone a a High flex,( Hi flex) or full bending knee with the surgeon.
